Krampus (pronounced "Krom-pus) Night is mainly celebrated in Austria and other Germanic countries, but also in other European countries, such as Italy and even in England. Once I saw a video of a Krampus parade in New York City. It seems Krampus is becoming more & more popular.
The Krampus is the Christmas devil, and he looks for naughty children, as Santa Claus looks for good children. The Krampus switches the bad children with willow branches and may even kidnap them.
Krampus Nacht, Krampuslauf or Krampus Runs feature people in elaborate Kampus costumes attempting to terrify the crowds. There are also loud, bizarre-sounding drums, bells, horns and noisemakers played. It's SUCH great scary fun!!!...
